Terms
The deal between us.
Last updated May 2026. Shipmate is built by Envision Labs DMCC, a company registered in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. By using Shipmate, the captain (you) and Shipmate (us) agree to everything below. Plain English, no fine print, no surprises.
What Shipmate does
Shipmate is a smart inbox for fishing charter captains. It connects to your messaging accounts (Instagram first, more channels later), drafts replies to your customers in your voice, and queues those drafts for you to approve before anything is sent. We never auto-send messages on your behalf without your explicit permission.
What we ask of you
Use Shipmate to run your charter business. Don't use it to spam, harass, mislead, or break the law. Don't use it to impersonate someone you're not, or to send messages that violate the rules of the underlying platform (Instagram, WhatsApp, etc). If we see clear misuse, we can suspend the account.
Pricing
Shipmate costs $49.99 per boat per month, billed monthly via Stripe. The first 30 days are free. We collect your card at signup but don't charge it until day 31. You can cancel during the trial without being charged. After the trial, we charge monthly until you cancel. Cancel anytime through your billing settings.
Trial and refunds
If you cancel during the 30-day trial, you owe nothing. After the trial, paid months are non-refundable but we won't charge you for the next month. If you cancel mid-month, you keep using Shipmate until the period ends. If something material goes wrong with the product and we can't fix it quickly, email us at miles@shipmate.chat and we'll work it out.
Your data and your customers' data
You own your data. You own your customers' messages. Shipmate processes them on your behalf to draft replies, and stores them so you can review threads. We don't sell anyone's data. We don't train shared models on your data. Your voice samples and customer conversations stay scoped to your account. For more detail, read the privacy policy.
Drafts are drafts. You approve every send.
Shipmate proposes replies. You decide what gets sent. We don't auto-send messages on your behalf without your explicit approval for that specific message. The captain stays in control of every conversation. If a Shipmate draft says something wrong, that's on us to fix the underlying model. If a sent message says something wrong, that's on whoever approved the send.
What we don't guarantee
Shipmate is software. Software has bugs. Third-party platforms (Instagram, WhatsApp, Stripe) sometimes have outages or policy changes that affect what Shipmate can do. We do our best to keep the service running and the drafts accurate, but we can't guarantee uptime, that every draft will be perfect, that every customer reply will book, or that no Instagram message will ever slip through. The captain is the final authority on every reply.
Limitation of liability
To the extent allowed by law, Shipmate's liability for any claim related to the service is capped at what you paid us in the three months before the claim. We're not liable for indirect damages (lost bookings, lost trips, lost revenue) caused by software bugs, platform outages, or things outside our control. This isn't us being cute, it's standard SaaS terms.
Cancellation by us
We can suspend or terminate the account for clear misuse (spam, harassment, fraud, platform terms violations) or for non-payment. We'll email before doing it if at all possible, and we'll let you export your data on the way out.
Changes to these terms
If we change anything material in these terms (pricing, cancellation, liability), we email every active captain at least 14 days before the change takes effect. For non-material changes (typos, clarifications) we just update the date at the top.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, where Shipmate's parent company Envision Labs DMCC is registered. Any dispute that can't be resolved by email goes to the courts of Dubai.
